Nisan 1 is the beginning of the religious calendar.
Exodus 12:2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
Rabbinical scholars state when the sun is eclipsed, it means the judgment of God is coming to Nations. When the moon is eclipsed it is a sign of God’s judgment on the enemies of Israel. When the sun is eclipsed in the center of four blood moons, it is a warning to the whole world, that something devastating is going to happen.

30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
